Water use
Positive results
In 2025, Klabin continued to reduce its specific water consumption, achieving a 41.13% decrease compared to the 2018 base year and exceeding the corporate target established for 2030 of a minimum 20% reduction ahead of schedule.
This performance reflects the combination of operational gains and stronger water management at industrial units, including optimization of the relationship between water withdrawal flow and discharge flow, expansion of measurement and monitoring systems, and implementation of initiatives focused on reducing losses and waste. These advances enabled a reduction in total water withdrawal despite production growth during the period.
In particular, the Monte Alegre Plant in Paraná achieved a significant reduction in water withdrawal associated with process optimization and improved operational controls. The Ortigueira and Piracicaba II plants also contributed by maintaining high water performance and efficiency in resource use. Integrated work among operational areas, supported by multidisciplinary groups, was essential to delivering these results.
The specific water use metric tied to leaders’ variable compensation* also showed strong performance. A total of 21.1 m³ of water per metric ton of product was withdrawn, surpassing the 22.17 m³/ton target established for 2025.
*20% of this group’s variable compensation is tied to performance against sustainability targets (climate, water, community relations, diversity and safety).

Water security
In addition to ongoing efforts to reduce water consumption, the Company also has targets under the Klabin Sustainable Development Goals related to water security and socially responsible water management:
-
In 2025, Klabin maintained initiatives that contribute to water security in 18 priority municipalities, out of a total of 21 where it has industrial operations. The year’s focus was on expanding environmental education initiatives to additional schools with the support of the Klabin Transforma Caiubi Program. In total, 360 professionals from municipal schools received training on water security in Paraná, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul and Bahia;
-
Despite the addition of land acquired through the Caetê Project and the resulting increase in areas under the Company’s management, the proportion of forestry operations using socially responsible water management remained stable at 96.6%. This type of management integrates the needs of communities, ecological processes and forest production. The entire methodology developed by the Company is being applied to the newly acquired areas.
Best practices shared with the value chain
Klabin has been expanding the scope of the Klabin Transforma Value Chain Program (see more in "Climate Change") to include water security, progressively engaging strategic suppliers and customers. This initiative aims to strengthen relationships across the value chain to expand knowledge about water management practices, water use reduction targets and management associated with water use and availability.
The engagement strategy includes the structured collection of information related to water use, with focusing on partners with significant water consumption located near the Company’s operations or in regions characterized by higher water stress. The program also promotes the sharing of experiences, best practices and initiatives focused on water use efficiency, with the goal of encouraging the joint advancement of the value chain in water management.
Collaborative engagement with suppliers and customers contributes both to improving the environmental performance of operations and to mitigating risks associated with water security, reinforcing an integrated and preventive approach to managing the issue.
