Suppliers’ social and environmental performance
Supplier management
Having a resilient value chain with responsible environmental and social practices is essential to generating positive impacts throughout the production cycle and in the relationships that sustain it. For this reason, Klabin places great importance on supplier management.
From the initial negotiation stages, the criteria set out in the General Supply Conditions are applied, in line with the Supplier Code of Conduct and the Supplier Social and Environmental Responsibility Guidelines. The wood supply chain, given its relevance to Klabin, receives special attention through on-site verification of socio-environmental practices, contributing not only to compliance with these requirements but also to the traceability of this raw material. In other supply chains, critical suppliers are assessed and reassessed against environmental criteria, labor practices, and Human Rights standards, as well as Ethics and Compliance requirements, in addition to the adoption of sustainable procurement practices within their own supply chains. When suppliers present opportunities for improvement, Klabin, as a principle, supports their development in socio-environmental practices, strengthening supply chain resilience and generating shared value between Klabin and its suppliers.
Responsible practices throughout the supply chain
In 2025, Klabin’s Supply Chain Social and Environmental Responsibility Program covered 91% of suppliers classified as critical*. This reflects the evolution and strengthening of good social and environmental practices throughout the supply chain, in addition to supporting the identification, assessment and proper management of potential social and environmental risks.
The Company remains committed to continuously expanding the program’s coverage, with the goal of including 100% of critical suppliers by 2030, reinforcing a preventive and collaborative approach to value chain management.
Depending on supplier performance in the evaluation process, reassessments are scheduled at intervals proportional to the results achieved. Suppliers with below-expected performance are supported in developing and monitoring an action plan to address key gaps.
*The criteria that define a supplier as critical include the value of sales to Klabin (spending), recurrence of more than six times (in different months of the year), representation across different business units (Forestry, Pulp, Paper, and Packaging), and socio-environmental criteria.
